If you see it you will see a normal cardboard with some lenses and magnet coins but it is not that simple in working, it can show you the whole new vision of virtual reality which you've never experienced before.

Google Cardboard is folding simple cardboard but when it is combined with magnet, rubberband, lenses and piece of hook-and-loop fastener and held against face with the smartphone mounted in it, it gives a virtual reality experience. The board is developed in a way that a smartphone with the stereoscopic display and the lenses that allows people to understand and see a left and right images as a single three dimensional image. Which we can consider a wonderful stage of three dimensional experience.

What is 3D printing ??

In 2007 3D printing was suggested for artistic purposes. we people are used to get printed copy of any digital file, but what if we could get a three dimensional object as a result of printing a digital file !!

How it works ??

3D printing or we can also call it additive manufacturing is a process for making three dimensional object from a digital copy. In an additive process an object is created by creating suitable layers of material. All the layers can b seen and differentiated uniquely as a thinly sliced horizontal cross-section of eventual object.

Technologies and methods of 3D printing :

Selective laser sentering (SLS)
Fused deposition modeling (FDM)
Stereolitheography (SLA)

What is SLS ?

Selective laser sentering is a process of building three dimensional parts using laser sentering which means heating and fusing a powdered material. It was developed by Dr. Carl Deckard in middle of 80's.

What is FDM ?

Fused deposition modeling commonly used technology for modeling, prototyping and production applications. It was developed by Scott Crump in late 80's.

What is SLA ?

Stereolitheography is a technique for creating three dimensional object in which computer controlled moving laser is used to build the required structure.

Facebook launches app for Groups

Facebook unveiled a new app that focuses on the social network's popular Groups.

Groups -- which is used by more than 700 million #Facebook users -- follows in the footsteps of Messenger with its own #standalone experience, the company revealed Tuesday. It's available for Android and iOS devices starting today.

When users open the app, they'll see the list of #Groups, with the ones users visit most frequently at the top. Users can also create new Groups from within the app, discover groups and set separate notifications.

What's different about Groups is, unlike #Messenger, it will still be accessible on the primary Facebook app.

"We saw that all of the messaging apps that people were using and they relied on the most were these dedicated and focused experiences," said Zuckerberg.

iOS update improves performance on older Apple devices

Apple launched an update to its iOS 8 mobile operating system that will improve performance on older devices including the iPhone 4s and second generation iPad.

Apple's software update, 8.1.1, went live Monday. According to a description, the update includes "bug fixes, increased stability and performance improvements for iPad 2 and iPhone 4s."

Since Apple launched iOS 8 in September, complaints surfaced from owners of older devices that the new software was slowing the performance of their hardware.

This is the third iOS 8 update issued by Apple since its debut. An initial update was removed and replaced because some users who downloaded it reported a loss of cellular signal. Last month, Apple launched iOS 8.1, which added support for mobile payments service Apple Pay.

Microsoft Fitness tracker

Microsoft has released its own fitness tracker – for the moment in the US only, which means I haven’t been able to lay my hands on one. But plenty of people already have, and have written about their experience.

The Microsoft Band is roughly what it says it is – a wristband with a screen that shows various bits of data, such as how far you have run or walked, your heart rate and smartphone notifications (email, calendar, messages). And it has its own GPS, so that it knows where you’ve been while wearing it.

The problem that quite a few of the testers seemed to have was that they didn’t like wearing the brand.

There are some obvious questions here, such as why is Microsoft making a fitness tracker? This is a company better known to people of one generation as the maker of Windows and Office, and to another as the creator of the Xbox. Neither quite implies connection to knowing how many steps you’ve walked today or what your heartbeat is.

And Microsoft fans have delightedly pointed out that the band is “sold out” on the online Microsoft store. How many were sold? Well, that is not specified by Microsoft.

This is where we move into the real world that wearables have to fit into, or wrap around.

Unlike a desktop or even laptop computer, which can look ugly but still be wonderfully functional, wearable computers have to look and feel good. They’re an expression of ourselves and our choices: if you choose something that doesn’t look good, it’s not an accident, and all the functionality in the world won’t make up for the fact that you look as though you’re under house arrest. It’s a different era, one where designers’ skills will be at a premium.

But it’s not hard to think that it’s the companies with the best hardware design skills, allied to the best access to new technologies Like, how Samsung has a curved screen on its Gear Fit, because it makes the screens, and the best software that will succeed in the wearable era.

Eye tracking has been discussed widely by technology enthusiasts but it's really challenging to implement in any of the daily use products,but eye tribe actually implemented this successfully.They successfully developed the technology to allow you to control your tablet, play flight simulator and also you can slice fruits in fruit ninja only with the movements of your eyes.It’s basically taking the common eye-tracking technology and combining it with a front-facing camera plus some serious computer-vision algorithm, and voila, fruit slicing done with the eyes!
